Aimed at the destination wedding in the tropics for the millennial bride’s trousseau, Masaba Gupta presented her bridal collection inspired by Himalayan Orchard Pure at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017. It was an amalgamation of colour, silhouettes and prints for a variety of global buyers.

Within just few days of the launch, Himalayan Orchard Pure has already made its place in the hearts of many, including Masaba with its unparalleled fruity flavour.

The non-carbonated, natural mineral water made with 100 per cent natural flavours and no preservatives, marks the entry of Himalayan into the premium flavoured water category.

The product served as a perfect muse for Masaba who is known for her healthy lifestyle choices and inclination towards wellness. Inspired by Himalayan Orchard Pure’s natural fruity flavours, untouched purity and the magnificence of the Himalayas, she created this year’s collection which was showcased at the Lakmé Fashion Week Festive Winter 2017 on Day One.

The stellar line which was showcased at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017 was designed for every millennial bride using accents of orchard gardens, linear grass prints and floral buds in fluid strokes all brought to life Orchards Pure on stage.

The association with Masaba has been a natural fit starting with her personal belief in natural and healthy living to her design philosophy. It was amazing to see Masaba’s designs reflect the fluidity and the timelessness of glistening and pure Himalayan water bodies through the fluid silhouettes, how the intricate embroidered embellishments with tinges of gold and silver accents was inspired by the rich flora and fauna and the exquisite and rich shades of grass grazed green, unclouded blue, fruity berry red and   peach were drawn from the orchards of the Himalayas”.

The fruity colours of apple, strawberry and peach which were the flavours of Himalayan Orchard Pure were the colour story which Masaba used to create her vibrant collection. Clumps of earthy foliage suspended from the ceiling and on the ramp set the mood for the vibrant show and created a perfect orchard ambience.

In addition the designer played with paintings, figure murals, linear grass prints, abstract foliage and birds that were turned into rich colour pigments and digital prints.

The shade card matched the richness of the inspiration as pink tones; light peach, grass green, sun yellow balanced the blues with rich shades of berry, ivory and hints of gold and silver touches.

Opening the show with a dramatic keyhole neck, long, balloon- sleeved, slinky maxi; Masaba unleashed more maxis with white tulle capes, body hugging cholis with pants, shaded black/white sari and pinafores teamed with bell bottom pants.

Kurtas were draped or layered, while polo neck long-sleeved Tees were worn with drop-crotch pants. A trapeze tunic and sharara, mini with poncho cover and the grand maroon gown with a gorgeous floor skimming cape were eye-catching entries. Corsets appeared with saris, skirts and dresses to highlight the moulding and contouring nature of the collection.

The silhouettes were daring and indeed contemporary as flowing anarkalis swirled on the ramp with attached capes and corsets. Clouded silk dresses were detailed with knotted seams. Making a flamboyant entry were the bow tops, teamed with drop crotch dhotis; while patchwork capes added to the vibrant appeal of the collection.

Saris were deconstructed and worn with sharply cut trousers but slip dresses appeared with fluid throws. For a more prèt offering blazer maxis, asymmetric kurtas and flared palazzos completed the look.

The rich silks splashed with sequins and gold thread work brought the bridal festive appeal to the forefront.

To complement the fun, quirky prints and jewellery this show embodied, the entire look created by Sandhya Shekar was kept very youthful and different while playing with the eyebrows to make them the highlight. A tinge of gold was added to the look to give it an Indian flavour and draw parallels with the collection.

When it’s feisty, bridal, fashion that the New Age bride longs for; then the Himalayan Orchard Pure collection by Masaba Gupta will add the perfect vibrancy to her trousseau.
