Indian Super League (ISL) – Points Table, Facts, Teams and match schedule 2018

India is a country of billions. Billions of people are equivalent to billions of indistinguishable talents. One of these talents is to learn and vanquish the skills of the most endeared sport across the globe; Football. Football is one such sport that is loved and played worldwide. All India Football Federation partnered with IMG, Reliance Industries, and Star Sports in the year 2013 to bring out and nurture the football players to showcase their talent, uplift, exhibit, and increase the exposure of the sport in the country under one association named Indian Super League or ISL.

The Board officially launched Indian Super League (ISL) on 21st October 2013. The League’s first season was organized in 2014 with eight teams on board. In early April 2014, the selected states after rigorous bidding were Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Guwahati and Kochi.

  • To promote the emerge of football and Indian Super League (ISL), former cricket players, Bollywood stars, and business giants came on a dais to own the teams for Indian Super League (ISL).
  • The Official broadcaster for Indian Super League or ISL is Star Sports.
  • Hero MotoCorp is the title sponsor for Indian Super League (ISL).
  • Former Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar along with PVP ventures went on to own the Kochi franchise.
  • Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly partnered with some businessmen to own the bidding of Kolkata franchise.
  • Bollywood star John Abraham held the ownership of Guwahati franchise.
  • Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor went on to own the Mumbai franchise.
  • Bollywood star Salman Khan bid for Pune franchise.
  • Videocon partnered with some other ventures and owned the Goa franchise.
  • Chennai based Sun group bid and won the Bangalore franchise.
  • Den network’s owner Sameer Manchanda took the franchise of the Delhi team.
  • The winner of 2014 and 2016 Indian Super League (ISL) was ATK.
  • The winner of 2015 and 2017-18 was Chennayin FC.
  • In the year 2017, Indian Super League (ISL) added to more teams; Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC.
  • TATA group own Jamshedpur FC.
